Conlon Construction sponsor Chester game

Date: 27 April 2016

We’re delighted to be welcoming Conlon Construction to Lightfoot Green on Saturday as main match sponsors for the 1st XV game with Chester.

Ahead of the game we caught up with Chairman Michael Conlon to ask him a few questions about the business and to get his thoughts ahead of the game.

Who are Conlon Construction and what services do you offer?

Formed in 1961 by five Conlon brothers, the company operates throughout the North of England, undertaking construction work, design and build, new build and refurbishment projects for clients within the public and private sector.

The company is today managed by a main Board of six, two of whom are second generation family members.  In addition, one of the Board is female which fits in with the company ethos of ‘rethinking construction’, as it continues to ‘challenge the norm’ within the industry.

Why are Conlon Construction keen to sponsor a Preston Grasshoppers 1st XV game?

As a local company, we like to do everything we can to support our local community. Preston Grasshoppers is very well known and one of Lancashire’s many success stories, so we wanted to demonstrate our commitment to investing in our area.

Why should Hoppers members consider using Conlon Construction?

As a local company and a member of the Considerate Constructors Scheme, we take pride in the projects we deliver. We often go above and beyond what’s required and going the extra mile is second nature to us.

What connections do Conlon Construction have to Preston Grasshoppers?

In addition to sponsoring the club already by way of branded signage, I am a member of of the club as a vice president.

A lot of our employees are recruited locally and many of them are fans, so we saw it as a way of giving back to them, as well as supporting the club.

What is your prediction for the game with Chester on Saturday?

It was a marginal loss in the away game back in September, so hopefully with the home advantage Preston Grasshoppers will pull through. I’m sure it’ll be a great match and we’re looking forward to being part of it.

We look forward to welcoming Michael, his colleagues, clients and guests to Lightfoot Green on Saturday.
