Hoppers Come Dancing

This is an event which has run for three years now and has supported a different charity on each occasion. The first year raised over a £1000 for Cancer Research UK, the second year over £1500 for St. Catherine’s Hospice and the third year more than £1500 for a local school, Maplewood House.

The evening sees couples dance in front of the judges and a packed clubhouse. The couples are made up from a non dancer, usually a rugby player, and a ‘professional’ from the ‘Dancers’ dance school. They train for several weeks under the watchful eye of Carole and Nick Atack and then dazzle the crowd with their moves!

Hoppers 2 Twickers

May 2012 saw a group of Preston Grasshoppers members set out and complete a gruelling challenge to cycle the 232 miles from the club in Preston all the way to Twickenham in time for the annual Army vs Navy rugby match. They called in at several premiership rugby clubs on the way who donated items which could be auctioned.

The lads undertook this challenge to raise money for the charity ‘Help For Heroes’ and the lads set a target of £5000. At the time of writing the lads had raised just under £4500  and are well on the way to reaching their target.

The group that took part were Sean Jackson, Alan Haworth, Colin Whalley, Dan Talbot, Gavin McQueen, Harry Foster, Peter Hollis, Robert Smith & Wayne Steel, supported by Mike Gregory.
