Hoppers 2 Twickers profiles – Wayne Steel

In the coming weeks and days we will be profiling the members of the Hoppers 2 Twickers cycling team who are raising money for ‘Help for Heroes’ by cycling from Hoppers to Twickenham. The first member of the team we will be looking at is 1st XV stalwart Wayne Steel.

Sports Background

Where have you played rugby? PGRFC

Most significant achievement in sport? Captaining theAlmeloTour Side 2011 – What a Privilege!

Cycling Specific

What bike do you ride?  Specialized Allez Elite

Favourite training course: Any route without hills!

What impact has training for this event had? Loss of weight & sleep but generally my fitness has improved.

What’s the best & worst thing about cycling? Best – Being out on the open road, not a care in the world. Worst – Weather in the Northwest of England, especially when you get a puncture!

General Interest

Ambitions: Live life with a smile on my face (don’t know how I’m actually going to achieve this on the ride?)

Hobbies:Rugby, Cycling, Walking, Kayaking

Reason for participating: Drunkenly agreed to the idea duringAlmelotour!!

Fears/Concerns: Getting left behind on the ride and ending up lost! And Jacko at the wheel of the support vehicle (could end up mowing us all down!)
