Following on from our first rider, Wayne Steel, being profiled on Wednesday here are the next three riders who will be riding from Hoppers to Twickenham to raise money for ‘Help for heroes’. They are Alan, Jacko and Dan.

Most significant achievement in sport? Holding the record for the most points scored in a season of Basketball at school.

What impact has training for this event had? Weight loss and getting a but fitter

What’s the best & worst thing about cycling? Best – Fresh air & good exercise: Worst – Falling off in the middle of nowhere

What’s the best & worst thing about cycling? Best – good exercise in a nice environment: Worst – Hills

Ambitions: John O’Groats to Lands End

Hobbies: Rugby, Cycling, Music and D.I.Y

Reason for participating: I suggested the Idea after a few beers and it snowballed from there. No backing out now!

Fears/Concerns: That i’ll have 8 angry blokes wanting to do me some damage by the end of the ride

What impact has training for this event had? Impact?… I hit my car in the driveway when I couldn’t unclip my pedals, how’s that for an impact!

What’s the best & worst thing about cycling? Best – I look awesome in Lycra. Worst – The helmet ruins my hair!

General Interest

Ambitions: Tour de France

Hobbies: Rugby, Surfing, Photography

Reason for participating: Help for Heroes in an extremely worthy cause and I wanted to do my bit for the people that are doing more than their fair share for all of us.

Fears/Concerns: Hope I don’t get a puncture or something on the ride as I think the spare bikes are a bit big for me!!!

Personal Quote: When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle. Then I realised that God doesn’t work that way so I stole one and asked him to forgive me.

Words of advice: Never Put Metal in a Microwave!!!!

All jokes aside, we are probably going to be putting ourselves through hell to finish this ride but it is nothing compared to what our seriously injured servicemen and women have been through and continue to put themselves through.
