Matt moves on

Date: 17 May 2015

1st XV performance analyst Matthew Coleridge has called time on his 3 seasons at Lightfoot Green and will be moving to Cheshire outfit Macclesfield for the 2015-16 season.

Coleridge lives in Manchester and has travelled up to Preston two or three times per week for the last three seasons so a move to Macclesfield is a lot nearer to home. His role has involved filming the games and then running the statistical analysis on the footage so that the players have all the team and individual statistics available within 24-48 hours of the game finishing, Matt has also prepared detailed video and analysis on upcoming opposition so that the team can plan accordingly. He has created several features for Hoppers TV as well as filming post match interviews with coaching staff and players.

Director of Rugby Alan Holmes was well of praise for Coleridge saying “On behalf of the players and coaching staff, I would like to thank Matt for his hard work and input over the last two years. The service the Matt has provided has been invaluable to the 1st XV squad and we wish him all the best in his future.”

On leaving Matt said “It’s a shame to leave Hoppers as I have had 3 great seasons here, all with mixed fortunes on the pitch but each successful in terms of taking the club forward in terms of performance analysis & multimedia development (Hoppers TV). I have made a lot of friends here and thoroughly enjoyed being part of such a great club but I just feel that now is a good time for a change and to set up an analysis department elsewhere with a fresh canvas. I’d particularly like to thank Alan Holmes, Garth Dew, Gareth Dyer, Mike Lough, Karl Fitzpatrick and John Peterson for all their support but most of all the players for buying into the process. I wish the club all the best for the coming season”

“I am moving on to Macclesfield to link up with the England Counties U18 coach Giles Hegarty whom I have worked with on the Tri Nations tour of France last year and am keen to learn from, but also living in Manchester it is a good fit for me too. I hope I will not get too much flack when I come back to Lightfoot Green with them next season.”

Thank you for all your hard work Matt. We’ll see you next season at Macc!
