Mini / Junior weekend round-up

Date: 27 January 2015

Most of the Minis were training this weekend with only the Under 12s in action in a re-arranged Minis Festival Cup qualifying round away at Tarleton.

The Junior teams were in Cup action again this weekend, qualification for the various Cup quarter final places at stake.

The Under 13s had a walk-over win against Littleborough to put them top of their pool, they still need to win their last game to be certain of a place in the Cup quarter finals, but they must be pleased with their progress to date.

The Under 14s came away from Warrington with a great win 19-14, Warrington are probably the strongest side in this age group and Hoppers had not beaten them before. A Man of the match performance by flanker Will Austin with 2 tries but all the lads played well. The win also secures a place in the Cup quarter final.

The Under 15s faced their fiercest rivals Fylde at home and dominated possesion and territory to run out 24-5 winners in a well contested match. Both teams had already qualified for the Cup Quarter finals and now await the draw to see when their paths may cross again.

The Under 16s needed to beat Blackburn at home to ensure a Cup quarter final place, and did just that winning 21-0 in a bad tempered match interrupted occaisionally by the odd bit of rugby. Hoppers will now hope to avoid Manchester in the knock-out draw.

the Junior Colts had no game this weekend while the Senior Colts suffered defeat 24-5 away at joint top of the table Altrincham Kersal.
