Scunthorpe Game On New Pitch

Date: 17 January 2017

Preston Grasshoppers begin a sequence of games this Saturday which will no doubt decide their fate come the end of the season.

They will need to put behind them what has been a miserable run of results since defeating Sheffield Tigers back in mid November and look forward with confidence to the fact that they have the nine sides currently lying above them in the league table still to play, six of whom having to visit Lightfoot Green.

It’s time to make Lightfoot Green and the new AGP “Fortress Fulwood”!

To start the sequence Hoppers will give Scunthorpe a warm welcome for their return to Lightfoot Green and hope to match the resounding victory they achieved when our visitors last played here for their one and only previous visit.

At the moment Scunthorpe lie in the position Hoppers at least hope to aspire to come the end of April and are currently nine points above the home side who have the Leicester Lions home game in hand.

The Hoppers side will take confidence from the fact that our visitors aren’t at their best away from home and the same as ourselves, tasting success on just one occasion at Harrogate. On the road they’ve had a number of heavy defeats, the latest of these when they were nilled at the scene of Hoppers heavy loss last week, league leaders Caldy.

Hoppers and Scunthorpe will both be desperate to gain success this Saturday with our visitors knowing that victory will put Hoppers at least three victories behind them.

The RFU AGP has passed inspection and so this will be the first game played on the new surface at Lightfoot Green.
