The club is concerned to report that Club General Manager Richard Ellis has recently been diagnosed with bone cancer. Richard is to undergo surgery to remove a tumour on his pelvis and will be absent from the club for an extended period of recovery and rehabilitation
commencing early in the new year. The management committee are certain that the membership will join with them in sending Richard and his family their very best wishes and support during this difficult time.
Contingency plans are being put in place to cover Richard’s absence to ensure the smooth running of the club continues. In the short term before his treatment commences Richard will be stepping back from day to day involvement and concentrating upon preparation and implementation of these plans.
Coincident with Richard’s absence but as part of the Club’s planned development we are pleased to announce the appointment of a permanent full time Operations Manager, Sam Hutchinson. Sam comes with a wealth of experience in the food and beverage industry and will take on the running of the catering, conferencing and bar operation of the club from early December. We urge club members to support Sam and we wish him every success in the role.
Members with any specific concerns or who wish to suggest ways they might assist in covering for Richard’s absence are asked to approach one of the Contingency Planning sub-committee: George Erdozain, Graham Cox, Hugh Duckworth and Martin Hothersall.
