Senior Player of the Month September

Date: 03 October 2018

PGRFC is delighted to announce the first winner of this season’s “Senior Player of the Month” award for September. This award is given to a member of the 1st XV Squad who has impressed on and off the field during that month and is chosen by the Coaching and Off-Field Team.

The September winner of the Senior Player of the Month Award is diminutive winger Tyler Spence (sponsored by M&J Thistlethwaite) who pips Adam Howard and Matthew Hayes-Danson to the award.

Spence enjoyed a man of the match display in the win over Fylde and was also outstanding in the defeat at Otley. He was a try scorer against Huddersfield (pictured above, photo courtesy of Mike Craig) and has impressed with his all-round work rate in games as he comes off his wing looking for work.

Head of Rugby Operations Gareth Dyer said “Tyler has kicked on from last season and has really added to his game. His quick feet and strong work ethic mean he is always looking for opportunities with the ball in hand whilst his defence and nuisance value at the breakdown sees him constantly in the thick of the action. Hopefully he will get more opportunities in attack so that he can add to his try against Huddersfield as he has been close on several other occasions in games”.

The club would like to thank Chairman George Erdozain who has generously agreed to sponsor the Player of the Month awards this season.
