Hoppers are delighted to announce the signings of Rhys Dixon, Owain Williams and Jack Roberts.

Hoppers are delighted to announce the signings of three talented young players. All three trained with the club at the back end of last season, but to have these players sign is a huge achievement.

The first of these is Rhys Dixon. Rhys (19) can play right across the front row and joins us from Winnington Park RUFC. Rhys was a part of the Sale Sharks U18 Academy, representing Cheshire U18s and the North of England U18s, in 2023. He is currently studying for a degree. at Manchester Metropolitan university. Rhys is a very technical scrummager, with a high work rate around the pitch. On signing for us, Rhys said “It’s great to get started at Preston. I look forward to getting my foot in the door at National League Two level, and seeing where it takes me.”

The second player joining us is winger, Owain Williams (19). Owain joins us from Bury RUFC, having attended the Myerscough College ACE programme. Owain was a part of the Sale Sharks U18 Academy, attending England U18 training camps, and representing the Welsh Exiles. Like Rhys, Owain is studying for a degree at Manchester Metropolitan University. On signing, Owain said “I’m really excited to sign at Grasshoppers. I feel like a I can really develop here and learn more.

Finally, full back Jack Roberts (19) joins us, from Liverpool St Helen’s. Jack was part of the Sale Sharks U18 Academy, representing Lancashire U18s and the North of England U18s, in 2023. Like Rhys and Owain, Jack is currently studying for a degree. at Manchester Metropolitan university. On signing, Jack said “I really enjoyed training with Hoppers last season, and I’m looking forward to pushing for a 1st team place. I know Dan from when he coached me at North U18 and I’m looking forward to working with him again!”

Head Coach Dan Orwin said, “We are delighted to have signed these three talented young players. These are exactly the type of players that we want to attract to Hoppers, and they will suit the way that we want to play. As we have shown in previous seasons, if young players are ready, they will get a shot and we will pick them. Jack Lightowler and Ben Haigh are testament to this. All three are exciting young prospects and I’m sure that the Hoppers supporters will enjoy watching them play!”
