After securing a solid ninth-place finish in 2025-26, Hoppers showed plenty of promise throughout the campaign, producing some impressive performances at Lightfoot Green and demonstrating the attacking rugby that supporters have come to expect.
With another season of experience at National League level and a strong core of players returning, there is every reason for optimism as the new campaign approaches.
The 2026-27 National League Two North line-up
Among the standout contenders will be Tynedale, who narrowly missed promotion last season, while Darlington Mowden Park, Fylde, Wharfedale and Chester all possess the pedigree and resources to compete at the top end of the table.
Relegated National One side Sedgley Park will also be expected to make an immediate impact.
Welcome Heath RFC to the League
One of the most intriguing additions to the division is Heath RFC.
The Yorkshire club arrives in National Two North after a superb championship-winning campaign in Regional One North East, earning promotion alongside Huddersfield.
Heath has built a reputation for playing an ambitious brand of rugby, backed by a passionate support base and a strong club culture. Hoppers looks forward to playing against this new addition.
Lancashire pride
For Preston Grasshoppers, local fixtures against Fylde will once again be among the highlights of the season, with both clubs carrying proud Lancashire rugby traditions.
The atmosphere generated by these encounters always adds extra passion to the contest, while clashes with Yorkshire clubs such as Harrogate, Huddersfield, Otley, Sheffield Tigers and Wharfedale will ensure there will be no shortage of fiercely contested battles throughout the season.
Aiming higher
Hoppers demonstrated last season that they can compete with anyone in the division on their day. Supporters can look forward to another season of high-quality National League rugby, with old rivalries renewed, new opponents arriving and fresh opportunities ahead.
