'IMPACT' Rugby North West 2026-27 Leagues announced for Hoppers Men’s 2nds, 3rds and 4ths teams

Jackie Ballard24 Jun - 14:51

With Hoppers’ Men’s 1st XV 2026-27 season league and fixtures confirmed, we are delighted to announce the 'Impact' Rugby North West leagues.

Preston Grasshoppers 2nd XV – Rugby North West Premier

Our men’s 2nd XV team will be playing in the Rugby North West Premier

Coach Cory Wallace commented on the league announcement: “After finishing second last season, Preston Grasshoppers 2nd XV head into the new campaign with one goal – to go one better!

“Last season proved what this squad is capable of, but this year the challenge looks even tougher.

Several clubs have strengthened well at 1st XV level, which will only make their 2nd teams stronger and raise the standard across the league.

Cory added: “Caldy RFC remain the benchmark to aim for. They are seven years unbeaten and expected deserved favourites again. We have pushed them hard at times last season on the leaderboard, but if we want to close that gap, we know we need to be better.

“The focus this year for the Hoppers 2nds team is simple: improve the small details, be more consistent, and take our chances when it matters.”

The league line up for our 2nds teams is as follows:
Premier
Caldy 2
Chester 2
Fylde 2
Lymm 2
Macclesfield 2
Preston Grasshoppers 2
Sale FC Vikings
Sandbach 2
Sedgley Park 2
Stockport 2
Wirral 2

Preston Grasshoppers 3rd XV – Division 2 North

The Hoppers 3rd XV squad returns to Division 2 North for another crack at the league after holding their own last season.

The landscape has shifted somewhat heading into the new campaign, with two familiar faces departing the division.

Kendal 2nds and Fylde 3rds both earned promotion to Division 1 after impressive seasons, leaving gaps at the top of the table – gaps the Hoppers 3rds will be looking to fill.

Coming the other way, Eccles 2nds and Aldwinians 2nds have dropped down from Division 1, bringing higher division experience and no doubt a fierce determination to bounce straight back up.

Garstang 2nds also join the division after coming up from 3 North/Central, adding further local flavour to proceedings.

It's shaping up to be a competitive and balanced league, and the aim for the Hoppers 3rds is a strong finish in the top half of the table. The message from the camp is clear – no passengers, no easy games, and the lads will be pushing every side they face all the way.

The league line up for our 3rds teams is as follows:
Division 2 North
Aldwinians 2
Aspull 2
Eccles 2
Firwood Waterloo 2
Garstang Blues
Littleborough 2
Liverpool St Helens 2
Preston Grasshoppers 3
Southport 2
Tarleton 2
Wigan 2

4th XV – Division 4 North/Central

After last season's relegation, the Hoppers 4th XV team have dropped into Division 3 North/Central with plenty to prove and plenty to look forward to.

There's genuine excitement about renewing some old rivalries in the division, and a warm welcome awaits Lancaster University 3rds as they enter the mix.

Garstang 3rds are also in the division this season, meaning Hoppers 3rdss and 4ths and Garstang 2nds and 3rds will be doing battle this campaign!

The new season won't be without its challenges. Rochdale 3rds and Burnley 2nds are expected to push hard for promotion, making this a tough but entertaining league to be part of.

The goals for the Preston Grasshoppers 4ths are simple: consolidate the team and squad, compete hard every week, and perhaps more importantly – enjoy your rugby!

The league line up for our 2nds teams is as follows:
Division 4 North/Central
Aspull 3
Burnley 2
Clitheroe 2
Colne & Nelson 2
Garstang 3
Lancaster Uni 3
Orrell 2
Preston Grasshoppers 4
Rochdale 3
Tyldesely 2
Wigan 3

The final fixtures for both home and away matches for the above leagues are expected to be announced over the next week. We will update this post as soon as the details are received.
