The new hard-wearing flooring replaces a heavily worn carpeted area, transforming the club’s main entrance with a durable surface built to handle the club’s busy footfall from club members, spectators and visitors.
Gainsborough Flooring, a Preston-based family firm, supplies and installs commercial flooring across a wide range of sectors including councils, education, hospitality, healthcare and office environments.
It has enjoyed a close association with Preston Grasshoppers for decades, supporting the club through sponsorship of events such as Ladies’ Day and its annual Hopfest beer and gin festival.
Contracts manager Eddy Brown is also a familiar face at the club, having played for Hoppers for many years.
Eddy said: “Our reputation is built on understanding which products work best in specific environments and providing an efficient and flexible service through our team of skilled fitters.
“When the Preston Grasshoppers approached us for advice on flooring for its busy entrance, we knew it needed a product that combined durability with visual impact.”
The new flooring is a mixture of LVT planks from a range of leading manufacturer. It is extremely durable and able to withstand the amount of footfall through the club house.
Eddy added: “We’re passionate about supporting our local community, and Preston Grasshoppers has played a huge role in our lives for decades.
“I run Gainsborough Flooring alongside my sister, Vicky Brown, and I played rugby at Hoppers on and off until recently, finally hanging up my boots at 57!
“We’re thrilled to donate this flooring to the club and help make the entrance area feel truly welcoming.”
John Chesworth, chairman at Preston Grasshoppers, said: “Local businesses provide much-needed support to the club, and Gainsborough Flooring has been doing so for many years through sponsorship and advertising.
“Its fitters have installed superb flooring throughout the club house over the years, including the recent fantastic new entrance flooring.”
Gainsborough also transforms homes across the regions with its wide range of flooring. The team work closely with leading manufacturers and are the only flooring company in the Preston city centre to achieve Amtico One status, giving them access to more samples, stock and unique features.
John added: “A massive thank you to Eddy and Vicky for all their fantastic loyal support.”
