Preston Grasshoppers Rugby Football Club is proud to announce the official launch of its new charitable arm, the Preston Grasshoppers Community Foundation, set to begin operations in September 2025.

Rooted in the club’s longstanding values of inclusivity and community engagement, the Foundation will serve as a driving force for positive change across Preston and the surrounding areas. Its mission is simple: to use sport particularly rugby as a tool to engage, support and inspire people of all ages, regardless of background or ability.

Through innovative programmes and partnerships, the Foundation will focus on:

• Supporting young people through sport, mentoring and life-skills development.
• Promoting physical activity and mental wellbeing within underserved communities.
• Offering inclusive opportunities for people with disabilities or additional needs.
• Strengthening the link between the club and the wider community.

“The Foundation is a natural next step in our commitment to community engagement,” said John Chesworth, Chairman of Preston Grasshoppers. “We want to ensure that the impact extends far beyond the pitch creating opportunities, tackling inequality, and building stronger, healthier communities.”

The Foundation will run a variety of year-round projects, including school outreach, holiday camps, inclusive sports sessions, and community initiatives. These programmes will not only promote physical health, but also help combat loneliness, build confidence, and build lifelong friendships.

“This initiative is about much more than rugby it’s about creating belonging,” said Lauren Sinnott, Trustee of the Preston Grasshoppers Community Foundation.
“We believe every person, regardless of their circumstances, should have access to positive role models, safe spaces, and meaningful opportunities to grow. Through the Foundation, we’re investing in the community, people’s wellbeing, and their future.”
