At the AGM back in August 2024 when I was appointed Chair of the Management Committee I said that we will keep the lines of communication open with members and the idea of an update meeting with members seemed a popular one. Hence, we are holding one on Tuesday 18th March 2025 at 7pm in the club.
The meeting will review the rugby season so far, assessing the first team's performance and plans for the future, as well as the very important issues we face in the social and women's game. We will also get updates from the mini junior section and on the other sports played at the Club to see how they are fairing this year.
We also need to report on the financial challenges facing the club, which are not unique to Hoppers. These include the rise in minimum wage, increases in Employers National Insurance, and the state of the hospitality sector which is not enjoying the best of times at present. We would like to hear from you as to how we generate more revenue at the club and reduce the costs which continue to escalate at present.
Finally, you will be aware of the RFU Special General Meeting which will take place at the end of March to vote on the motion of no confidence relating to the RFU's Chief Executive Bill Sweeney. I attended the RFU Roadshow along with John Powell and Richie Sands watched the online version. We will report back and look forward to hearing from you at the meeting.
We look forward to seeing you on 18th March and if you can make it, please to let us know if you are attending by emailing info@pgrfc.co.uk.
