And just like that … The Northwest Counties Winter League 2024 to 2025 season is over.
But Hoppers are not ones to disappoint with our 5ths closing out the competition with an excellent 5-0 victory over South Shore 3rds, and ensuring a place in their division’s playoffs. Excellent work guys.
But now the season is over, we want to say congratulations and thank you to everyone in Preston Grasshoppers Squash Club for giving us one of the best competitive seasons we have ever had. A massive shout out goes to team captains Simon, Tom, Chris, Jess and Phil for all the effort these guys have put into running their teams this year.
All players performances this year have been stellar, thanks in no small part to the training sessions and club nights we run every week. With this, and the commitment of our players, it’s no wonder we have been at the top of multiple divisions.
We also want to thank Hoppers staff and management for their support for the Squash club, providing food after matches and helping to keep our facilities in good condition for competition and training all year round.
Unfortunately, we have to say a sad farewell to some of our players Joe S and Olly W and we wish them well for their future with Wigan squash, though we'll likely see you both back soon when you realise how much you miss us!
Although only with the club a short time, Paul Lane has been a valuable asset to our teams, though he's decided to hang up his racket and take up running. At least it wasn't golf!
While this season of Squash may be over, there is no rest for the wicked as next week sees our challenge match against the Army Corp and the start of our Summer League for some of our team.
For those of us not playing in Summer League, we will see you in Winter League for the 25-26 Winter League Season!
