Zephyr Maher (18), from our Colts, signs his first senior contract with the club. Zephyr has spent the past two years at Myerscough College, in their ACE programme, alongside his involvement with Sale Sharks Academy.

Zephyr has exceptional agility and pace and is a threat every time he touches the ball. Zephyr is the son of current player, Marc Maher. On signing for Hoppers, Zeph said, “I can’t wait to get started with this class group of lads and coaches. I really enjoyed the few training sessions I attended at the end of last season. I am really excited for the transition from age-grade to senior rugby, which hopefully develop my game.”

Head Coach, Dan Orwin, said, “ensuring that our colts transition to the senior game is a priority for us, and we are happy that Zeph has chosen to continue his rugby development with us. We were not the only club that wanted his signature. Having watched Zeph play, he has an X-factor in his attacking game and we know he will be a great addition to our squad. We will be announcing other Colts who have signed, over the coming weeks. Huge credit should go to Mark Murray and his team of coaches for the work that they do with our Colts.”
