Hoppers were first on the scoreboard when Hugo Castle finished off a forward drive from a five metre line-out but the kick failed. The lead was short-lived as a fumbled kick reception allowed the visitors to reply with a try by Leo Gilliand converted by Will Hunt.
Greg Smith retook the lead with a penalty but after some robust exchanges in mid field which resulted in a yellow card for home wing Sam Feeman, scrum half Gabe Maguire exploited a blindside gap to score and Hunt converted. Despite some prolonged home pressure no score came and Fylde led 14-8 at half time.
Hoppers started the second period with continued pressure and after a line-out drive Hugo Castle crashed over and reg Smith’s conversion retook the lead for his side at 15-14.
