Hoppers were high on confidence entering the game on the back of three straight wins against Darlington Mowden Park, Otley and Sheffield Tigers.
It was a puzzling start to affairs, the Hoppers team coach arriving at Scunthorpe for what was believed to be a 2pm kick-off, a miscommunication error however meant the game did not kick off until 3pm.
The visitors couldn't of asked for a better start either. A try in the opening two minutes courtesy of Jacob Browne who received a pass from Sammy Russell after a line breaking run.
That would be the only time Hoppers led however, five unanswered first half tries from the hosts gave them a 35-7 lead at the half.
The tries scored by Ollie Arnold, Joey Mowbray, Ethan Heath Drury and two from Dylan Martin, all successfully converted by Will Dark
After scoring 74 against the same opposition earlier in the season, there was hope Hoppers could turn it around in the 2nd half but Scunthorpe did not let up.
They continued the onslaught with two tries in the first 5 minutes of 2nd half, Mowbray getting his 2nd and Will Horner also going over. The score read 47-7 with 35 minutes to play.
Hoppers then had a nice spell of pressure and were finally rewarded with a try when Scott Richardson went over, the try converted by Sam Freeman.
The hosts shut down any chance of a comeback however, two more tries from Marcus Payne and Will Robinson, both converted by Dark.
The visitors were keen to leave Lincolnshire with something though, ending the game with three consecutive tries, Sammy Russell, Sam Freeman and Zephyr Maher all scoring to give Hoppers a bonus point on what was a tough day.
Dan Orwin's side will be looking to bounce back in two weeks' time when they head to a struggling Rossendale side.
