In a display of commanding rugby, the home team delivered a strong performance against a resilient Southport 2nd XV, ultimately securing a dominant 47-19 victory. The scoring opened early with a moment of individual brilliance from full back Craig Proctor, who carved through the defence with a flowing run to touch down. Stu Woodhouse added the conversion, setting the tone for the afternoon at 7-0.

The hosts continued to assert their dominance with powerful, cohesive play. A try followed from Paddy Hudson before Southport managed to hit back with a try of their own.

After a period of back and forth attacking from both teams, a perfectly executed first-phase scrum allowed Alex Wood to crash over, with Stu adding the extras to make it 19-5. Wood continued to excel all afternoon, following up with a second try, showcasing his impressive finishing ability, further extended the lead to 26-5.

The home team's attacking prowess was unrelenting and a swift tap penalty allowed second row Luke Proctor to dot down. Soon after, Stu scored his own five-pointer after a slick passing move out wide.

As the game entered its final stages, Southport were awarded a penalty try, but the hosts had the last word. A fantastic offload from Paddy Hudson found Jacob Leeming in space, and he raced in to seal the match. The final conversion from Stu brought an end to an impressive performance by Hoppers 3rd XV.
