Following the news of Andy Napier, Chris Taylor and Scott Jordan re-signing for the 2015/16 season, Preston Grasshoppers RFC is pleased to announce that centres Billy Woof and Sam Russell have put pen to paper and committed to the club for next season.
Woof and Russell formed into a key component of Hoppers survival run at the end of the season with both players making 20 appearances each throughout the season and combining for 5 tries between them. More importantly than the 5 tries scored was the amount of tries they managed to stop. The Woof/Russell partnership became a vital part of the defensive structure which was exemplified by an incredible display away at Hull in the final game of the season.
On re-signing Billy commented “To be asked to re-sign for Hoppers was a real honour. This squad is really building and there are exciting times ahead for this team and I’m really excited to be involved next year.”
Russell added “I am looking forward to next season because of the brand of rugby we were playing towards the back end of the season was which was really enjoyable to be a part of. Since arriving at the club I have realised it’s a real rugby club and has a really positive and welcoming atmosphere!!”
We hope that Billy and Sam can continue to develop their partnership next season and look forward to seeing them on the pitch at Lightfoot Green on a Saturday.
