Wanted! New Referees

The Manchester & District Rugby Union Referees’ Society are looking to recruit new referees.

Are you interested in a challenge, physical fitness, social activity and giving something back to the game? Well, whatever your aspirations, there’s never been a better time to take up refereeing rugby.

The Manchester & District Rugby Union Referees’ Society aim to support to the game at every level. The vast majority of members happily remain amateurs and officiate locally, whilst some succeed in rising to the professional arm of the game. if you are committed, motivated and good enough you are guaranteed to rise quickly regardless of age, gender or creed.

In conjunction with the RFU’s KYBO (Keep Your Boots On) initiative, the society is offering an induction package to all new referees who successfully take up the whistle this season.

As well as the aforementioned support, on becoming a member of the Society, unqualified referees who have passed the RFU Level 2 Refereeing  Course will receive a:

– Whistle
– Jersey (a Society jersey badge will be awarded when a Refereeing Grade is attained)
– Pair of shorts & socks
– Touch Judge flags

After being awarded a refereeing Grade and thereby accepted into full membership, teh new referee will be entitled to other items of kit being allocated to the existing, active Society referees, i.e.:

– this season’s Society jersey, shorts & socks
– a Society fleece

In addition, after completing 10 society refereeing appointments this season, the referee will further receive a:

– Society kit bag
– Society jersey
– Society tie
– plus, s/he will be entitled to a reimbursement, by the Society, of the cost of the RFU Level 2 course fee, providing this has been passed in the last 12 months and has not been funded by another body.
