Young person heart screening event

Date: 08 January 2015

In October 2014 Cadley FC lost one of their players, Melissa Smith, as a result of an undiagnosed heart condition, you may recall reading about this in the media, Melissa was only 15 years old.

Shockingly statistics show that 12 youngsters each week die from such conditions.

As a result Cadley FC have been looking at ways they can facilitate more screening opportunities in Preston as free screening is few and far between, and with places limited to 200, these are fully booked up within hours of being advertised.

Cadley FC have, therefore, arranged a private heart screening event which will be undertaken by CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) with the cost per screening paid for by the parent / guardian.

A screening event costs £7,000 to arrange, however by breaking this down to individual screenings parents can access it for £40 (£35 to cover the screening plus £5 to cover admin costs such as purchase of a text package, provision of refreshments to CRY team over the weekend, etc).

Candidates must be 14 – 35 years of age at the time of screening.

Cadley FC would like to extend an invitation to all parents with children at Hoppers falling within this age range to take part in this screening event.

The screening will take place on 2nd / 3rd May 2015 at CPC in Fulwood.

There are 200 places on offer.

If parents wish to book their child onto the event then they should visit the Cadley FC website http://www.cadleyfc.com/ and select heartscreening on the left of the screen where full instructions can be found.
