Kendal vs. Preston Grasshoppers – Kick Off 3pm Hoppers make the short trip to Mint Bridge this coming Saturday, a trek which has been made to the Cumbrian town for well over a century. The first time was back in 1872, albeit not to the current incumbents of the Kendal Rugby Club title.

Preston Grasshoppers 27 Caldy 15 Hoppers home campaign got off to flying start with a well deserved victory over Caldy. Head Coach Dave Baldwin was ‘impressed with the intensity and aggression shown in the first half’ and was ‘pleased with the improved performance on last week’.

Friday 19th August 2011 Hoppers put in a mixed performance that showed glimpses or real flair and promise but also highlighted some re-occurring problems that will need addressing before the season starts.

Saturday 13th August 2011 Coach Dave Baldwin was disappointed with this result although the scoreline is not the ‘be-all and end-all of a warm-up game’. He continued: “They never really put us under sustained pressure and the majority of their tries came from individual break-aways.
