The Mini’s games at Vale fell victim to the weather this weekend, but three of the Junior teams were in action.
The Under 13s had another tough game this weekend against Aldwinians who got off to a quick start scoring 3 unanswered tries while Hoppers were still waking up. But the lads dug in only letting one more past and then got one back before the break. Hoppers got into their stride and spent a lot of the second half around the Aldwinians 22 and were rewarded with a further 2 tries. Aldwinians managed a final flourish scoring directly from their own kick off while Hoppers all stood and watched!! A tough but rewarding encounter and it was a credit to the lads that they persevered and never gave up.
The Under 14s fielded 2 sides for home fixtures against Blackburn and Bolton. The Fireflies lost 15-0 to Blackburn while The Hoppers beat Bolton 38-0. The day was rounded off as Bolton beat Blackburn 20-0.
The Under 15s lost 35-5 away to Blackburn. Hoppers started well against a very strong Blackburn side, much of the first half was scoreless until a break away try by Blackburn. Weak tackling let Hoppers down again allowing Blackburn to extend their lead. Hoppers rallied but Blackburn went further ahead as Hoppers tired giving the score line a flattering look for Blackburn.
