Today, 10th June 2015, marks 100 days until the start of the 2015 Rugby World Cup which is being hosted in England in September and October.
With newly upgraded high definition audio and visual equipment in the Dooley Suite, we want to make Lightfoot Green the place to watch the World Cup in Preston. We’ve also kept the room free from function bookings for when England are playing their evening games so that there is room to cater for hundreds of spectators in the Dooley Suite.
The World Cup will also give the opportunity for clubs in the country to tap into the spike in interest that will come from hosting the tournament. The term ‘legacy’ has been banded about freely since the London 2012 Olympics but as a club we are hoping that the Rugby World Cup will have a lasting one and help to raise the profile of rugby and Preston Grasshoppers RFC across the city of Preston.
The RFU has invited clubs to adopt the hashtag #MoreThanRugby on social media in the lead up to the tournament and at Preston Grasshoppers we are in a great position to do so. With squash, cricket, archery, shooting and other activities already established at Lightfoot Green we will be using the #MoreThanRugby hashtag to showcase all that we have to offer.
