1869 Club Mission Statement

Date: 25 August 2023

The purposes of the 1869 Club are to support Hoppers First Team at as many away games as possible, and in so doing, to have fun!

Last season we travelled by coach to 10 of the 13 away games. We usually call at a nearby hostelry for lunch and beer on the way, or occasionally partake in pre match hospitality at the target club. It is not obligatory to dine, of course. There is an annual membership fee of £10, and further donations are welcome. We try to keep the cost of the coaches to £20 per head per trip, but we may need to charge a little more for more distant trips. We understand that everybody is feeling the pinch during the cost of living crisis, so we will only charge what we need to avoid running at a loss. When the cost of a coach is not viable, we intend to publish train times and details and try to co-ordinate our travel.

We wish to appeal to as many people as possible, and everybody is welcome to join us. This includes retired players, current players (if unable to play of course!) and their wives, girlfriends and family members, and of course not forgetting our Ladies team, Typhoons and Mini/ Juniors (Under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times).

We intend to set up our own website and Facebook page, more information will be published about those soon.

We intend to run a Supporters’ coach to the first game of the season, if financially viable, which will be at Tynedale on Saturday 2nd September, 2023.
