2nd team face Caldy at home

Date: 09 December 2011

Hoppers 2’s face Caldy at Lightfoot Green on Saturday in the first of their ‘A’ Conference fixtures. As ever there are a number of changes from last week’s victory against Vale of Lune. However this is merely a sign of the strength which exists in the first team squad this season.

Tom Smith, Russ Flynn and Owen McKenna drop down from the first team whilst Jack Ward, Matt Gargett and the evergreen Wayne Steel go the other way. Liam Launders comes back into the squad whilst Andy Napier dops out as he is due to start work in Sydney. Everybody at Lightfoot Green wishes Andy well and he is welcome back at Hoppers anytime.

Hoppers enjoyed a comfortable victory over Caldy when the two sides met in the early season sunshine but the men from the Wirral have improved in recent weeks. Mike Lough’s men will be keen to get their campaign of to a good start and will not be in league action until the weekend of the 7th January. Gaining early momentum is vital as it is likely that Sedgley Park, Macclesfield and Stockport will come flying out of the blocks.

The squad is as follows, there are a couple of positional issues to be ratified before Saturday. Meet time is 1.00pm for a 2.15 kick off.
