Saturday proved to be a very fruitful day for the 2nd and 3rd XV’s as they both booked their places in the BEST Cup Finals.
The 2nd XV hosted Sandbach at Lightfoot Green and ran out comfortable 56-0 winners. Hoppers ran in several tries with Jack Walker (2), Ryan Marshall, Matt Gargett, Tom Boyes, Luke Clitheroe, Matt Lambert and Sam Kendall all getting over the line. The lads go on to play Value of Lune 2 in the final at Sandwich on Saturday 2nd May.
Trafford MV 2 were semi-final opponents for the 3rd XV (pictured above). Traffic problems on the M60 meant the squad was disrupted in their preparations with some players arriving just minutes before kick off. An excellent start saw the lads lead 15-3 at half time with tries from Andy Horrocks and Cameron Berry. Tom Peterson also added a penalty kick. The second half was a much more open affair with the lads running in several tries to seal a 46-3 win. Try scorers in the 2nd half were 17 year old scrum-half Kieran Walmsley, Luke Procter, Craig Procter (2) as well as Cameron Berry getting a second. Leigh 2 are the opposition in the Cup Final, also held at Sandbach on Saturday 2nd May.
Well done to both teams. Sandbach on 2nd May looks like being a great day out!
