The second team play their final game of what has been another arduous but ultimately impressive campaign. Their outstanding league record was not rewarded with the championship but on Saturday they travel down to Wilmslow to face Caldy in the final of the Raging Bull Cup.
It has been a testing week at Lightfoot Green as this weekend sees the front line squad involved in three matches, two of which are cup finals. Additionally the county championship has resumed and a healthy contingent of Hoppers shall be donning the red rosé. With a few niggling injuries and an important senior colts fixture on Sunday there were more than a few furrowed brows at training on Thursday night.
However the club is in rude health and although a few favours have been called in the squad that will travel down the M60 on Saturday lunchtime is a testament to the resources that are currently available. Coach Young calls upon a blend of youth and experience, the core of which have featured in what has been another fine season.
Meet time at Lightfoot Green is 11.30 prompt with the coach due to depart at 12.30. Kick off is scheduled for 3.30 although times are subject to adjustment if the preceding matches go to extra time. The lads would appreciate your support.
The squad in full is as follows:
Forwards-Mabaya, McGuinness, Jackson, Jones, Sands, Fletcher, McGuire, Steel C, Doney, Gale S, Proctor.
Backs-Moulding, Murray, Berry, Reddick, Flynn, Elliott, Yates, Pollock, Peterson.
