After an impressive opening day win at rivals Sedgley Park, the 2nd XV return to Lightfoot Green for the visit of Burnage. Whilst the defending champions were winning at Park Lane, Burnage were also in good form with a comfortable win over newly promoted Wilmslow by 48-26. Last season Burnage finished top of Conference B and will be hoping to make it into the top half of the division after the first round of league games to ensure they are part of Conference A this time around.
There are a number of changes to last weekends 18. Up to the 1st XV go Madden, Fletcher, Allen and Gargett whilst injury/unavailability rules out Napier, Grimes T and Molloy. Coming into the 18 are Gale C (on rotation from the 1st XV) whilst the returning Muphy, Reddick, Webster, Berry and Horsfall are all included. New signing Jonny Doney also gets a chance to impress in the back row.
With “guru” Jebb away on sunnier shores, Coach Young is ably assisted by Messrs Steel C and Murray M. The meet time is 1.30pm for a 3pm kick off so if you’re not travelling to Sheffield to watch the 1st XV please come down and support the lads.
