After last weekend’s thrilling last gasp victory over Fylde, the second team welcome Caldy to Lightfoot Green. Hoppers have reached the halfway point of Conference A and sit at the summit knowing that their fate is well and truly in their own hands. Simply put if they win their six remaining fixtures they will be champions for the first time since 2012.
Caldy generally provide combative and enterprising opposition. In recent seasons there have been some high scoring and extremely entertaining fixtures between the two sides.
Hoppers beat Caldy early on whilst repeating the feat in a cup come back during the early winter. Furthermore Young’s men came out on top in early January when they put in a fine performance to win their first Conference A match.
A number of injuries and other selection issues mean there are seven changes to the starting line up alone. As a result Young selects an extremely youthful looking eighteen. The coach will be having a well earned rest this week after his unexpected 65 minute cameo against Fylde last weekend.
Kick off is 2.15 and the lads would appreciate as much support as possible from those not travelling to watch the first team in action. The match day squad is as follows:
