2nd XV look to maintain position

Date: 07 March 2013

The second team host Chester on Saturday afternoon as they look to maintain their position at the top of the Bateman Premier League. Nothing less than a victory will do as Macclesfield and Fylde are breathing down their necks and waiting to pounce on any slip up.

Hoppers have beaten Chester twice this season but know that Saturday is likely to be a fiercely contested affair. Young’s men won a wet and muddy league encounter at Chester but left it late, only securing the points when Andrew Pollock was taken out with the try line beckoning. Chester’s powerful pack fought like demons that day and Hoppers returned to Lancashire thankful that they came out on top. However when the teams met shortly after in a Raging Bull Cup tie, Preston ran out convincing winners.

Coach Young selects a vastly different squad once more as injuries and first team call ups see the pack shuffled. Such is the strength in depth at the moment he can still call upon an exceptionally strong eighteen. Meet time at Lightfoot Lane is 1.30pm in readiness for a 3pm kick off. The squad in full is as follows:

Tom McGuiness
Alan Jones
Dan Madden
Dan Fletcher
John Wells
Jonny Doney
Eddie Webster
Jonti Wilson
Tom Smith
Mark Murray
Antony Elliott
Cameron Berry
Harry Reddick
Andrew Pollock
Ollie Yates

Reps: Oga Mabaya, Sam Gale, Matt Gargett.
