2nd XV looking to bounce back

Date: 19 December 2013

The second team also face Sedgley Tigers on Saturday as they welcome the men from Whitefield to Lightfoot Green. Young’s men will be hoping to get back to winning ways after last week’s disappointing reverse against Macclesfield.

Hoppers can be encouraged by the fact they haven’t lost consecutive games since 2011 whilst they remain unbeaten at the Green since January. Additionally they boast an enviable record in 2013 having lost only two fixtures.

Saturday’s match will be tough for Hoppers as they face a resurgent Tigers. After some difficult months they have stabilised and their first team looks strong and powerful. This appears to have had a positive affect on their second string who have improved greatly since losing to Hoppers in the Autumn sunshine.

Unfortunately for Young, the squad’s injury crisis shows no signs of abating and has been compounded by further setbacks or players going away over the festive period. However they are still able to field a competitive squad whilst Young is hoping for some good fortune in the coming days. Kick off is scheduled for 2.15 with the squad convening at 12.45. The full squad is as follows:

Mawdsley, Tuff, Jackson, Banks, Perry, McGuire, Warlock, Proctor, Whyte, Smith, Truman, Farley, Hurst, Marshall, Yates, Young, Kendall, Reddick
