2nd XV travel to Birkenhead Park

Date: 02 November 2012

The second team continue their long quest for back to back Bateman Premier League titles with a trip to Birkenhead Park this Saturday. After last weekends staccato performance against Lymm, John Young’s side will be looking for a more polished and professional display. Their hosts will be buoyed by last weekend’s victory at Wilmslow, a result which represented their first win of the season. Park are usually fiercely competitive at home and will look to test Hoppers physicality and composure under pressure. To their credit, the seconds have repelled everything that’s been thrown at them so far this year and have trained well this week. As a result they go into Saturday’s game confident but not complacent of securing their ninth straight win.

Hoppers are boosted by the return of stand-off Lewis Allen who has been nursing a wrist injury. Not only does the young tyro add composure to Preston’s attack but his goal-kicking all but guarantees fifteen to twenty points per game in conversions and penalties alone. Ally Murray and Ian Sibbit are rewarded for their strong showing last weekend with a first team call up, whilst Matt Conway, Anthony Elliott, Alan Martindale, Sam Gale and Killian Wallace return to Young’s eighteen.

Meet time is 11.30am at Lightfoot Green or 12.45 at Birkenhead Park with a view to a 2.15 kick off. The squad is as follows:

John Peterson
Alan Martindale
Richard Morton
John Wells
Alex Austin
Terence McGuire
Killian Wallace
Andrew Napier
Matthew Conway
Lewis Allen
Anthony Elliott
Mark Murray
Harry Reddick
Andrew Pollock
