2nd XV welcome Caldy

Date: 20 February 2014

The second team resume Bateman Premier League action this Saturday as they host Caldy. Hoppers were left frustrated last weekend as their trip to Sedgley Tigers was a victim of the horrendous weather in the North West.

Young’s men go in search of the victory that will keep alive their feint hopes of regaining the title. However they remain full of confidence after their brilliant victory over Macclesfield a fortnight ago. Young is very much the operative word this weekend as only John Peterson and Ryan Marshall are older than 24.

Front row forward James Mawdsley has departed for Australia with our best wishes, Harry Reddick is at a wedding and Connor Truman is representing Irish Exiles. As a result there are debuts for fly-half Cam Boulter and lock John Mackenzie who has been playing for Sale Academy all season. The pair have a combined age of 35 and will bring a lot of youthful exuberance to the squad.

Coach Young meanwhile is at Twickenham this weekend but a 2.00pm kick off should allow his tyros to watch the game in the newly refurbished Wainwright Bar. The squad convene at 12.30 and the match day squad is as follows:

Peterson, Wilkinson, McGuinness, Perry, Mackenzie, Lees, Farley, Proctor, Kindred, Hurst, Moulding, Geatches, Yates, Elliott, Marshall

Reps: Boulter, Smith, Mabaya.
