2nds can seal the deal

Date: 19 April 2012

The second team’s Bateman Premier League campaign comes to an end at Lightfoot Green on Saturday as they entertain Chester. Hoppers know that victory will see them crowned champions whilst a draw (however unlikely) would also see them collect the title.

Should Hoppers lose then Macclesfield need a big win over Sedgley Park to take the title once again. Alternatively Sedgley can take the honours if they win their remaining two games and Preston lose but there needs to be a substantial shift in points difference.

Josh Purnell returns to the squad following Easter vacation whilst Chris Lowden and Allen Martindale are back in the mix after injury whilst Lewis Allen and Tom Smith’s excellent recent form is rewarded by first team call ups. Unfortunately Ally Murray’s hamstring injury rules him out which is a real shame for he has been in great form over the past few weeks.

Hoppers’ destiny remains firmly in their own hands and securing the championship would be just reward for their efforts as they have dominated the league since September. All being well Lough’s men will pick up the win they need. For Hoppers to be leader of a pack that contains three clubs from the upper reaches of National League One represents a fine achievement and all the lads would greatly appreciate any support that finds its way to Lightfoot Green this weekend.

Kick off is 3pm, the squad is as follows:

Dan Madden
Chris Lowden
Glynn Hoosen-Owen
Jack Banks
Mark Irving
Dan Fletcher
Sam Gale
Will Keenan
Matt Conway
Josh Purnell
Anthony Elliott
Russ Flynn
Harry Reddick
Tom Grimes
Greg Horsfall

Subs: Allen Martindale, Liam Launders, Oga Mabaya.
