3rd team go down at Kendal

Date: 02 October 2011

Kendal 2’s v Hoppers 3’s                  42-24

Hoppers 3’s made the difficult trip to 2nd placed Kendal 2’s. A week after an agonising 19-20 defeat at home the team had something to prove.

The first half didn’t quite go to plan, we headed into half time with the score 32-7. Duncan ‘I’ll walk anywhere if I have the time’ Brown, gave an inspirational half time team talk that rallied the troops.

The team talk had worked, a spirited come back was on and the gap was closed to within 8 points 32-24. As ever this was helped by the quality of Sean ‘Blackpool reject’ Donnelly’s kicking (3 Cons and 1 DG).

Throughout the game there was some serious BEEF about the try scoring duo of Steven ‘Copper’ Lightfoot (2)and Luis ‘Shakes’ Dunne (1), with a combined weight of over 38stone(open to debate)!!

Kendal took a gamble that paid off and scored a breakaway late on to take the score to 42-24, a score line that didn’t fully reflect the performance and effort of Hoppers.

Rumours were rife when the team arrived back at Lightfoot Green that captain ‘All Action Sean Jackson’ was seen taking regular breaks on the wings, due to the empowering heat of the sun!

Post Match Interviews:

‘All Action Sean Jackson’ said after the game “it was the best display by the team this year, despite losing to an impressive Kendal side”.

2 try scorer, man mountain ‘Copper’ described the game as, “a good battle between the forwards with a lot won up front, Kendal’s backs were just too good, they had blokes running lines from all directions”.

Next week’s opponents see Trafford Metrovick travel to Lightfoot Green where hopefully Dan ‘Always Late’ Bolton may make it in time for the warm up.
