3rd XV face Trafford in Semi-Final

Date: 13 March 2015

Preston Grasshoppers 3rd XV travel to Trafford tomorrow afternoon for their biggest game of the season so far when they face Trafford MV 2nd XV in the Semi-Final of the Brooke Edgley Specialist Technical Services Trophy.

The 3rd’s began their Cup campaign back in November with a 57-0 victory over our own 4th XV. A hard fought 29-15 win away at Warrington 3 saw the lad’s progress through the second round and into the Quarter-Finals.

The world’s oldest open rugby club, Liverpool St-Helens, were the Quarter-Final opponents back in January and the 3rd XV didn’t fail to deliver. A 40-18 victory at Moss Lane ensured that the boys will face a date with destiny tomorrow afternoon at Trafford.

When we caught up with Captain Tom Peterson he said “These are the days you play rugby for. As a young lad you dream of lifting the Brooke Edgley Specialist Technical Services Trophy so being this close to the final we’re obviously excited at the prospect. We’ve had a long, hard season and the chance to add some silverware and get to the final will be a real incentive for the team when we step out at MacPherson Park on Saturday.”

He added “Having played Trafford already this season, we know we are in for tough, physical game and we hope we can produce for our legions of travelling fans”.

Kick off is at 3pm and we’ll keep you updated with the score from Trafford on the club twitter account @RugbyHoppers.

Good luck lads, keep the run going!
