Hoppers 3rd XV head to Kendal this afternoon to take on Manchester in the NOWIRUL Jug Final with kick off set for 2:30pm.
Coach Cory Wallace has given some background to the game with his words below.
“Hoppers 3s have had another successful season, finishing mid-table after last season’s promotion to Division 1. We’ve shown strong growth as a team, blending experience from previous promotion campaigns with the development of last season’s colts and new recruits.”
“Our journey to the cup final took an unexpected turn with teams dropping out, leading to pool play. Despite this, we secured victories, including a convincing 46-19 win against Kendal 2s, a narrow 10-17 loss to Rochdale 2s, and a hard-fought 18-16 win over Vale 2s, finishing atop the pool. In the semi-final, we faced a formidable Stockport 2s, whom we had lost to in the league recently, but emerged victorious with a 29-18 win.”
“Although we suffered a close 26-24 loss to league toppers Manchester 2s last week, we’re confident in our abilities and determination for the upcoming cup final. This marks our third consecutive cup final appearance, and we’re eager to showcase our style of play against Manchester 2s.”
“As we conclude this successful season, we also bid farewell to our coaching staff, who are retiring after their final season with the team. We extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved; it’s been an incredible journey.”
