Following on from last weeks article on Preston Grasshoppers’ leading league appearance makers since the inception of league rugby in 1987 this week we look at the leading points scorers in that time period.
Well clear at the top of the pile is former fly-half and centre Paul Bailey who amassed 979 points in 8 seasons for Hoppers, averaging over 5 points per game. Paul would surely be further clear if a knee injury hadn’t ended his career prematurely in 2008.
It is also worth noting that Steve Kerry notched over 500 points in just 4 seasons with the points coming at almost 11 points per game.
Former winger Matthew Hughes is the only player to feature in the top 10 who’s points all come from tries.
2 current and 1 departing player also feature in the table with Sean Taylor and Olly Viney surely adding to their tally in the coming season.
