In the final installment of our summer series of articles which have looked at some of the all-time player statistics since league records began we look at the leading try scorers.
The good news for Hoppers supporters is that topping the list is Olly Viney who has re-signed for the club ready for the 2015/16 season. With 78 tries in 120 league games, Viney sits 13 tries clear of second placed Gary Monaghan who has 65. Another returning player also features on the list with Sean Taylor having notched up 51 tries to see him sit in eight place.
In terms of strike rate Viney is just edged out by Ian Bruce who averages a try every 1.49 games as opposed to every 1.54 games for Viney. It is also worth noting that the highest placed forward, the recently departed Dominic Moon with 53 tries, has a strike rate of less than 2 games per try which is very impressive for a Number 8.
