Many of you will know and remember Allan Sayle who first played at Lightfoot Green in the 1979/80 season before leaving for Australia in 1985. Allan was in the first Hoppers team to reach a Lancashire Cup Final in 1984 against Liverpool. He played on the wing during his time at Lightfoot Green and had an excellent try scoring record. Allan’s fellow first teamer and scrum-half from that era, Dave Percy, has been in touch to say that Allan will be visiting from Australia in September and would like to catch up with as many former team mates as possible.
Allan has chosen his time to visit well as it coincides with the lunch to celebrate 40 years at Lightfoot Green!! Allan will be at the lunch and hopes his old friends will be there too!
Details of the 40th Birthday Party
THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT
To mark the 40th Birthday it is intended to have a Birthday Party on Saturday 14 September 2013 which is the 1st XV’s first home game of the season against Sedgeley Park. The idea is to get as many (ex)players as possible together for a re-union over lunch and to watch the match. It is hoped to put together a photo montage to show on the day which will include all teams and not just the 1st teams over the years. The cost involved is £17.50 which pays for a 3 course meal, admission to the game and a copy of the match programme.
We have started work on assembling lists of potential attendees but need to spread the word as widely as possible and need people to:
- send the club copies of any pictures (preferably with names and dates) to include in the photo montage. Please email these to john.peterson@pgrfc.co.uk.
