Altham joins Hoppers

Date: 03 January 2014

Preston Grasshoppers RFC are delighted to announce the signing of Lancashire prop Peter Altham. Altham joins the club from neighbours Fylde where he made over 100 appearances during a four season stay.

Altham, formerly with Wharfedale, has also been a mainstay of the Lancashire pack over the last few seasons and played in last season’s victorious side at Twickenham. He has also represented the England Deaf XV.

Director of Rugby Gareth Dyer said “We are delighted to welcome Peter to Lightfoot Green. He will add some much needed size and power to the side. It’s no secret we have been struggling with injuries & suspensions in the front five with the likes of Andy Irving, Rich Morton & Phil Mills out for the medium to long term. With other players carrying knocks it was vital we added to our options. Once we were aware that Peter was available we have worked hard to bring him to the club. I’m sure he will make a big impact”.

Altham’s paperwork has been done in time to allow him to be in contention for tomorrow’s home game with Chester.
