AROUND THE TEAMS 19.01.13

The website is regularly updated with previews and match reports for Hoppers 1st and 2nd XV but what of Hoppers other 4 teams who compete on a Saturday?

Hoppers 3 sit proudly top of Division 2 North and are unbeaten since the last update. A 20-10 away win at Bolton 2 and 62-0 at home to Littleborough 2 were followed by a narrow 15-12 victory at Wigan 2 and then Ashton-on-Mersey were put to the sword 77-0. They are now 6 points clear of De La Salle in 2nd and 7 ahead of Fylde 3, although they have a game in hand. Today they travel to Oldham 2 in 9th and next week host Sedgley Park 3 who are 10th.

Despite losing two games in December, a 15-29 loss away at Sale FC3 followed by a 5-29 home defeat to leaders Leigh 3, Hoppers 4 have started 2013 with two wins, 20-7 away at Fylde 4 and 81-10 at home to Aldwinians 3 and thereby move up a place to 2nd in Division 3 North. However, today they visit former leaders, Liverpool Veterinary School 1 who have two games in hand and next week are at home to Southport 2 who are 4th in the table.

Hoppers 5 have recorded a good 19-15 home win against 4th-placed Aspull 1 but lost 13-16 away to 2nd in the table BAE Warton 1 and 5-10 at home to Tarleton 2. They consequently drop down to 6th in Division 4 North, had no game last week and this week host Bolton 3 who are 10th and next Saturday travel to Rossendale 3 who are 8th.

In Division 5 North, Hoppers 6 lost 13-46 at home to Thornton Cleveleys 2 who are 2nd in the table but the following week’s fixture away at leaders Leigh 4 was postponed. Since the turn of the year, they have lost 12-20 at home to Clitheroe 2 but won 18-15 away at Burnley 3 to retain 4th place in Division 5 North. They have no scheduled league games today or next week.
