Big Funds Raised at Midsummer Ball

Date: 09 July 2015

Friday 19th June saw Hoppers Summer Ball resurrected as the Midsummer Nights Dream Charity Ball with just shy of 200 in attendance at Lightfoot Green.

Funds raised on the evening were donated to Christies with Graham Harris and James Mawdsley as guests of honour. Graham and James have both recently undergone treatment for cancer at Christies in Manchester.

Entertainment for the evening was provided by ‘Daniel Sings’ who had the dance floor rocking with a combination of guitar, saxaphone and his incredible voice. Darryl Edwards was on hand to take the night through until the small hours with his renowned disco.

Money on the night was raised with a 10% donation from ticket sales, a raffle and an auction. As a fundraising bonus, guests were invited to pay £2 to ‘kiss the canvas’ which involved applying lots of lipstick and then leaving a smacker on a large canvas. Worryingly more men than women took part but all in the name of fun and charity. James and Graham were on hand to judge the best smacker with the winner keeping the canvas as a memento.

Overall a fantastic £2,922.56 was raised for Christies. Thank you to all those who bought tickets to attend and also for their generosity on the night. A special mention also goes to organisers Jane Dew, Gill Peterson and Richard Ellis.

Plans are already underway for next year. Keep your eyes peeled for an announcement on the date.
