Bill Allen RIP

Date: 26 November 2020

It is with great regret that the Club announces the death of Bill Allen.

Born in Wigan in 1932, Bill was a former Head Boy at Wigan Grammar School and a student at Liverpool University. He spent some time working in The Gold Coast (Ghana) before he returned to work in Kendal where he joined Kendal RUFC. For a short period he played for Kirby Lonsdale before moving to work in Preston when he joined the Hoppers in 1960. When he finished his playing career, he joined the  Committee and was Honorary Secretary as well as being elected Chairman of the Club. His time as Secretary saw him represent the Club following the ‘notorious’ Police raid which followed a Saturday disco in the clubhouse. He remained a keen club member until his early 80s and will be sadly missed by many at the club.

Our deepest condolences go to all his family.
