Preston Grasshoppers RFC can announce that this years Boxing Day game will be a testimonial for former player, coach, 1st XV manager and still avid spectator Billy Johnston.

Billy proudly wearing his Hoppers top on the Lions tour to SA in 2009.

Billy played for the 1st XV as a scrum half before turning his hand to coaching and then managing the 1st XV. He also coached the Colts for several years, leading them to National Plate glory at Franklin’s Gardens.

The club is grateful for everything Billy has done over the years and is delighted to be able to show its gratitude in this way.

On Boxing Day a Graham Cox XV will face off against an ex-players team with Billy overseeing the action from the touchlines. Kick off is at 1pm.

The match will also act as a fundraiser for charity. The club is asking that all of those that come to watch pay a £5 gate fee, which will be split equally between Parkinson’s UK and CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young).

After the game it is hoped that the Strollers will be in fine voice in the bar!
