Club Development Day 27th Feb

CLUB DEVELOPMENT DAY – WEDNESDAY 27TH FEBRUARY 2013 – PRESTON GRASSHOPPERS RFC

On Wednesday 27th February Preston Grasshoppers is hosting the 5th Club Development Day. The day is run by the RFU and aims to educate and offer advice to rugby clubs on how they can improve their club on and off the field. Workshops will be delivered on the hour between 2-8pm and cover the following areas.

Coaching/Refereeing/Medical Workshop

Following the amalgamation of the coaching and refereeing departments into one Game development department encompassing first aid the aim of this workshop is to support clubs to plan and satisfy their training needs. The discussion will look at the qualification structure for both Coaching and Refereeing and help clubs to identify the best courses for their club members All Club Coaching & Refereeing Coordinators should attend.

Student Workshop

John will provide advice on creating partnership working with your local University forming sustainable & effective links to your Club. Benefitting both club and University and how you can assist the University in providing quality experience for the University students with the aim of enhancing his employment chances on graduation.

Funding & Facilities

The funding and facilities workshop will provide advice to clubs that are looking to improve the facilities at their club.  Information on RFF and RFU grant programmes will be covered and particular attention will be paid to support clubs that may wish to apply to one of the Sport England Legacy funding opportunities; ‘Inspired Facilities’ or ‘Protecting Playing Fields’

Women & Girls Workshop

The Women and Girls Workshop will include how to set up / run and support a women and girls section, there will also be an update on national initiatives, player, coach and referee development and the player pathway, including county and divisional and 7s programmes. Finally we will have a brief Q&A session to go through YOUR clubs specific needs and any problems you may be experiencing. Representatives of all clubs who have or are considering Women and Girls sections should attend

Rugby First Workshop

Once again Max will be running a drop in desk that will give you practical advice on using Rugby First and give you answer’s to any problems or queries you may have.  He will also be looking at the new player registration system and will talk you through any issues.

This is an ideal opportunity to get those irritating problems solved.

Player Development

Ian Bletcher our new Player Development Officer will be on hand to answer any questions you may have on Player Development Issues including Schools of Rugby, Regulation 15 and the New Rules of Play for U8’s – U11’s.

Club Recruitment

North Lancashire CRC’s Kai Burns and Chris Lowden will discuss Player Recruitment and Retention initiatives such as 02 Touch, 7’s, the Ex Colts Programme and Targeted School Recruitment.

Also in Attendance will be Sale Sharks Community Department, England Rugby Travel and First Capital Cash Flow.

The format will be a one hour Rolling programme of sessions between 2PM and 8PM. Each workshop will comprise an update followed by interactive question and answer and will last for approx. 45 minutes, repeated on the hour. There will also be a chance to network with other clubs to share good practice or solutions to common problems.

Clubs are invited to send as many delegates as they wish and attend at
whatever time suits them from 2pm.

Light refreshments will be served throughout the day.
