For the 5th consecutive year Preston Grasshoppers’ clubhouse was packed on Saturday night with over 200 in attendance at Hoppers Come Dancing 2014.
The last 12 weeks have seen 6 members of the club give up their time every Sunday to train with an experienced dance partner from Dancers in preparation for the show.
Previously the night has raised money for Cancer Research UK, St. Catherine’s Hospice, Maplewood House and The Dean Puplett Appeal. This year the chosen charities were Derian House and The Dean Puplett Appeal. The audience were as generous as ever with their donations counting as votes for their favourite couple. £1,006 was raised on the evening for the two charities.
Once the judges scores had been taken into consideration as well as the amount received by each couple the winners were declared. Walking away with the trophy this year were 3rd/4th XV regular Ellery Hodson and his partner Lydia Dickinson. Their jive received a maximum 40 out of 40 from the judges and they were deserved winners.

The night wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of all the contestants as well several other volunteers. The club would like to thank Alan Nutter for giving up his time to help run the event, Sally and Lydia Dickinson for organising the dancers, dances and choreography and all the contestants and their partners.
